Referenced Scripture:
Romans 1:16-17, Romans 1:5, Romans 4:1-25, Mark 1:15
Reflection Questions:
Read Romans 4
1) Why would we say that gospel is “good news” and not just “good advice”? What is the difference between the two?
2) The gospel is a credited righteousness and not an earned righteousness. What is the difference between the two and why is it important to understand this?
3) Read verse 5. How can someone at be declared “righteous or justified” (POSITION) while at the same time be considered “ungodly or wicked” (CONDITION)?
4) What is the object of genuine saving faith? What are we placing our faith in? Why is genuine saving faith referred to as a “trust transfer”? Our faith is transferred from what to what?
5) What evidence would you see in a person’s thinking or behavior that would indicate that they don’t understand or have lost sight of the good news of the gospel?
6) If we are declared righteous by our faith, what is the motivation for righteous behavior and obedience for the believer?
What’s your next step?
