A Gospel Perspective | November 27, 2022
Brian Van Eps | Guest Speaker

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, ‘Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.’ For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile, the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’” Romans 10:9-15 (NIV)

“I bring you good news of great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord” - The Angel Luke 2:10-11 (NIV)

What is the Gospel?

The Gospel is the Incredible, Awesome, Wonderful, Breathtaking, Spectacular News that the Kingdom of God is Here.

Two Implications of the Kingdom Being Here:
1. It changes my life
2. It changes the world

“Our faith is personal but it isn’t private”

“Our faith should make us different and it should make a difference” - A Hole in Our Gospel by Richard Stearns

Preaching is proclaiming the news that the Kingdom is here.

What sermon does my life preach?

Who am I sent to preach to?

Reflection Questions:
1) What is the Gospel?

2) Why is it important to understand the Gospel as “News”?

3) How has the Gospel changed your life?

4) How have you seen the Gospel change the world?

5) If your life was a sermon, what would be the title of the sermon?

6) Who are you sent to proclaim the gospel to?

7) What is one tangible way for you to live out the Gospel before the end of 2022?
