Luke 1:46-56 (NIV)
And Mary said:

“My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the
humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me—holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors.”
Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.

Mary’s prayer reveals what she believes about God

Seasons of waiting and silence are unavoidable.

How we pray in seasons of waiting reveals what we believe about God

The Lord never forgets His promises to His people and never fails to keep them.

Our tendency as Christians is to be strong in our faith as the recollection of our latest blessing. But we forget all the benefits that God has poured out on us in our lives. That’s our tendency, that’s our nature, to forget. But that’s one of the ways in which we differ from God. He simply does not know how to forget. - R.C. Sproul

Serve someone else’s miracle while you wait

Reflection Questions:
1. How would you have responded to Mary’s situation?
2. What are you facing or walking through that you need the promise and hope of God?
3. Whom might you be able to serve in the midst of your waiting?
